The Schumacher CLRT Racing Team has entered for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup with the 2025 Rookie Champion and a driver making his debut at this level. Like last year, the team is fighting to win both the overall and Rookie titles. During recent weeks Flynt Schuring secured his second victory and Chester Kieffer clinched his first overall podium finish in Belgium followed by a repeat performance in Hungary. So after five events out of eight, the Dutchman and the driver from Luxembourg have seized a leadership that they are determined to retain till the end of the season. If they manage to achieve their goals it’s very probable that Schumacher CLRT will do the same thing in the teams’ classification. But competition is fierce as proved by what happened at the Hungaroing where there was a fair amount of contact, which generated a few disillusions!

Between the end of June and the end of July the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup accompanied the Austrian, Belgian and Hungarian Grands Prix. Thanks to these three trips Schuring was able to seize control of the championship thanks to a 2nd place at the Red Bull Ring and a lights to flag victory at Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian circuit has been a happy hunting ground for Schumacher CLRT, as the team has won ten times there in the last 11 races in three different Porsche Championships. In the 11th race, it finished second.
However, Schuring didn’t have much luck at the Hungaroring. “At the end of the first lap I had to pit with a puncture following contact at Turn 4, (which, this year, carries the name of the 1992 Formula 1 world champion, Nigel Mansell. Ed). “Although it’s a pity to miss out on a good result, you just have to absorb the lessons it teaches you. Even so, we can be very satisfied with our start to the season with the team, and I have a 13-point lead. My team-mate has made stunning progress which is very positive for everybody. The next round will take place very near my home in Zandvoort with a different format. There will be just a single qualifying session to decide the grid positions for the two races, which means that you’ll have to dial in two good laps and then be consistent.” Naturally the Porsche Junior driver is determined to shine in front of his home crowd.

Chester Kieffer has reached a new level during the same period showing that he is now capable of fighting for outright victory. He obtained an encouraging seventh place at the Red Bull Ring, and then he put on his best qualifying performance of the season so far at Spa-Francorchamps bagging a place on the front row of the grid alongside his team-mate. The next day he completed Schumacher CLRT’s double while dominating the Rookie category. And just to prove that his results owed nothing to chance, he repeated his Belgian feat as shown on the Hungaroring Grand Prix time sheets – 2nd overall in qualifying, 2nd overall in the race and domination in the Rookie category! Holidays? Maybe, as there’s a three-week break in the calendar, something that hasn’t happened for three months. But preparations for the forthcoming races have to be made as they look like being as indecisive as well as decisive. Before meeting the F1 crowd at the Dutch Grand Prix on 21-23 August, Schumacher CLRT has a rendezvous with DTM fans at the Nürburgring for the restart of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deuschland on 14 – 16 August.
