In voorbereiding op zijn thuisrally, de ELE Rally, staat Erik van Loon aan de start van de Sezoensrally in Bocholt, België. Samen met Hein Verschuuren wil Van Loon weer in het ritme komen en gewend raken aan de auto om een week later mee te doen om de overwinning. De Sezoensrally start aankomende zaterdag om 8:15 en finisht rond de klok van 20:10 op het Kerkplein in Bocholt.

“De Sezoensrally is met de maaskiezel een bijzondere rally, maar ook een erg leuke om weer in het ritme te komen,” vertelt Van Loon. “Harmen kon niet, vandaar dat Hein instapt. Ik wil graag competitief rijden in een voorbereiding, omdat je dat echt goed ziet wat een aanpassing in je setup doet ten opzichte van de rest. Soms voelt iets beter, maar kan het ook veel langzamer zijn. Ik heb er zin in, het is dichtbij en gewoon een goed evenement met goede competitie.”

De Sezoensrally is de vijfde ronde in het Belgisch kampioenschap. “Dat betekent dat de andere deelnemers als de nodige kilometers hebben gereden dit jaar. Ik heb enkel de Dakar en Morocco Desert Challenge gereden met de Toyota, dus ik zal ontzettend mijn best moeten doen om mee te strijden voor het podium. Maar het belangrijkste is ritme opdoen en warmdraaien voor volgende week. Want de ELE Rally, die wil ik winnen!”

Van Loon to Bocholt with the Skoda Fabia R5 to get into the rhythm

In preparation on his home event, the ELE Rally, Erik van Loon starts at the Sezoensrally un Bocholt, Belgium. Van Loon wants go get back into the rhythm and get used to the car together with Hein Verschuuren to be able to compete for the win one week later. The Sezoensrally will start on Saturday at 8:15 and finishes near 20:10 on the Kerkplein in Bocholt.

“With the specific terrain (maaskiezel) is the Sezoensrally a special event, but also a very nice one to get back the feeling,” says Van Loon. “Harmen was unavailable, so that is why Hein is in the hotseat. I want to drive competitive to prepare for an event, then you can see what a change in the setup means compared to the rest. Sometimes it feels better but it could be much slower. I am looking forward to it, it is close and a good event with serious competition.”

The Sezoensrally is the fifth round of the Belgium championship. “Which means that the others already drove a lot of kilometers. I only did Dakar and the Morocco Desert Challenge with the Toyota, so I will have to be at my best to compete for the podium. But the most important goal is to get the feeling and getting prepared for next week. Because I want to win the ELE Rally!”
