A 34-year success story will be continued as DTM continues to race at the Nürburgring. ITR GmbH, the umbrella organisation of DTM, agreed upon a new three-year deal with Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. “This contract represents an important component of our future-strategy,” underlines Frederic Elsner, ITR’s Head of Operations & Event Programm Manager. “We decided to continue this consistent and successful cooperation. The Nürburgring is a circuit with outstanding fascination and perfect infrastructure. Drivers, teams and we as DTM umbrella organisation always love to come back to the Eifel. It is hard to imagine DTM without this traditional race venue.”

“DTM just is a part of the Nürburgring and also will be a constant highlight of our event calendar for the coming three years,” beams Mirco Markfort, CEO of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG, on the occasion of the new contract. “The race series has proven that it has got an event concept that responds to the demands of the motor-racing enthusiasts. Components such as Fan Village, Pit View and Fan Terrace as well as this year’s combination with the ‘Olé Party’ at the Müllenbachschleife provided the visitors a multifaceted adventure package.”

The Nürburgring is and remains Germany’s most legendary racetrack. The Eifel circuit stands for pure motor-sport tradition. Since the foundation of the series in 1984, DTM held at least one race meeting in the Eifel per year and in the years 1988, 89, 90, 92 and 93, the DTM touring car aces even had to prove their skills in the so-called ‘Green Hell’. In these races, the drivers had to complete four laps at the challenging Nordschleife – and two races were held on one day. Since 2002, the drivers fight for points and trophies at the Nürburgring’s 3.629-kilometre sprint circuit.

About a week ago, René Rast proved to be the ‘King of the Ring’. The Audi driver scored 56 points, the maximum a driver can score on a race weekend. An unprecedented result in DTM since the race meetings have been held in the current format. Both on Saturday and Sunday, the reigning champion secured the pole and won the race. Also a major success on this year’s Nürburgring weekend was the cooperation with the ‘Olé Party’ at the Müllenbachschleife – at the same time the official ‘DTM After Race Party’ – on Saturday, with free access for the DTM-ticket holders. ITR’s event concept was a massive success. DTM makes you ‘Feel the Roar’. More than 2,000 visitors used their DTM tickets for attending Germany’s biggest open-air party with many greats of the German ‘Schlager’ scene.

The exact date for next year’s Nürburgring weekend as well as the track version to be raced at will be announced later. ITR is in close contact with current and potential new organisers. The publication of a first provisional calendar is planned for October.
