Hungarian Révész steps up from F4 and will join VAR for the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). Levente will compete alongside recently announced Dutchman Kas Haverkort.

Révész joins Van Amersfoort Racing’s FRECA team after his single seater debut last year in the Italian F4 Championship. Prior to moving to single-seater racing, the young Hungarian concluded his karting career in which he competed in the FIA European and World Championships.

In order to fully prepare for the 2022 FRECA series, the 16-year-old will join the FIA certified F3 Asian Championship, which will run from January till February next year, alternating between the Dubai Autodrome and Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit.. Despite running a different engine and tires, the cars used by the Asian F3 series resemble the car ran by FRECA. Therefore, competing in this championship will give Révész the opportunity to properly familiarize himself with the Tatuus F.3 T-318 enabling him to come well-prepared to next season’s edition of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

“Levente is very eager to learn and that is essential” says Rob Niessink, VAR’s CEO. He continues: ”stepping up from F4 to FRECA is a great move for him. As this is only his second year in single-seaters, he will face the challenge of learning in an incredibly competitive environment. However, at the same time will this environment help him to accelerate his progress throughout the season. Our team is extremely dedicated to support him in every way possible and we look forward to get started with Levente!”

The Formula Regional European Championship has grown steadily since its inaugural season in 2018. The Championship has proven to be a valuable next step for F4 graduates on their way up to higher levels of single-seater racing.

Levente Révész is clearly excited about the move to the new series and his new team Van Amersfoort Racing. He comments: “Things are developing extremely fast for me. I did only one year of F4 racing and now I am about to jump up to the next level. The car is amazing to drive and obviously quite different from the F4 that I used to race with. For sure the speeds are much higher, but especially the levels of downforce are so much greater.” Révész tested in November with Van Amersfoort Racing at Mugello, the same circuit where he tested an F4 for the first time. “Mugello is a circuit with great memories. Last year I first tried an F4 there and now, a year later I tested a FRECA car with Van Amersfoort Racing at the same track! Working with VAR felt great. They live up to their reputation of being highly professional. The team made me feel at home from the get-go and I was already able to progress in a short timeframe. Can’t wait to get started!”

The 2022 season of the FIA certified Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine will cover 10 race weekends with 2 races each. The first two rounds of the season will happen on Italian soil; Monza sets the scene for round 1, followed by round 2 held at the circuit of Imola. The third round can be considered as one of the highlights of the season, as the team then shares the streets of Monaco with Formula 1. Round 4 is held at the circuit of Paul Ricard, after which the convoy travels further North for round 5 at Zandvoort, uniquely located at the Dutch coastline. Round 6 takes place at the Hungaroring, followed by round 7 which is hosted at the famous track of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Round 8 brings the team to the stunning Styrian Alps to race at the Red Bull Ring, followed by the penultimate race weekend, held at the Barcelona circuit in Spain. For the season finale, which is scheduled for the end of October, the team travels back to Italy once more to strike the circuit of Mugello.
